...lime makes everything better.

So…I’m dieting. I graduated last week and realized that I am already unique. Instead of gaining the Freshman 15, I gained the Senior 15. This is not something to be proud of but is true nonetheless. Because of my recent departure from the greatest university on earth (Go Green!), my Senior 15 and my current work status I am super motivated to improve myself. I know, weak work, but improve is the best summary of all of my goals.

I want to be a better blogger so I have committed to blogging everyday while I am dieting/actually exercising. Don’t get too excited, these might not be the wittiest, interesting or even worthwhile posts but like I said…I’m improving.

There is only one thing more frustrating to me than wasting my time on an elliptical machine and that is not consuming anything and everything my heart desires. I love food! It delights me that eating is a necessary activity to sustain life. I hate peanut butter and don’t understand why anyone would dare ruin chocolate with it but other than that I will pretty much eat anything.

Which brings me to my main point:  Dieting usually requires you to eat less food, less often and many times they suggest the least flavorful food EVER. Lime is currently saving my life. It’s helping trick my brain into believing that I’m eating some tropical, festive dish. It is bringing life to my otherwise pathetic excuse for a salad.

Lime makes everything better.

P.S. I went to find a really appealing picture of a lime and this pic came up number two in my search…

Nothing, I repeat nothing, not even the wonderfulness of a lime can make a cat better. Cats are evil.

...traveling is fun.

Traveling is fun. For the most part. The actual transportation to your chosen destination is usually a bummer. This weekend I met my best friend and family in Chicago for her birthday. In general I hate public transportation- of any kind. All for different reasons but equally as much.

Flying: The plane will probably crash. Why? Because it will. Yes, I know statistically flying is one of the safest ways to travel but for some reason I hate it. A lot. I feel like we are trying to compete with birds in their natural habitat and that is just rude.

Buses: I've always had this germ thing. I hate germs and in my mind there are about 67 million more germs on a bus than anywhere else in the world. Some buses are better than others but no matter what someone is guaranteed to invade your space in one way or another.

Taxis: They are efficient, yes, but they make you pay them a lot of money to drive you somewhere you could totally walk to if it wasn't freezing and you weren't wearing five inch heels. Also, depending on what city you are in there is going to be some one way street they can't turn down. You'll have to get out of the cab early and you end up doing what you tried to avoid in the first place- walking.

Trains: Generally this mode of transportation seems like a pretty decent option. It becomes indecent when you: a. sit next to someone who finds showers to be an unnecessary part of life, b. sit by someone who thinks their perfume/ cologne is the bomb, c. sit near screaming children (who have parents who believe in the parenting method which requires them to scream back at their children). They generally provide a much more scenic route and the seats actually fit one normal sized human and are therefore one of the the better options.

So like I said, I was in Chi-town for the weekend. Evidently it is wise to buy your return ticket on AmTrak more than one day in advance. This is because people go home on Sunday's and that results in sold out tickets. This is how I ended up on the Mega Bus.

The Mega Bus is good for one reason only, it is cheap. That is the only reason. The seats are small, the restroom uses formaldehyde as their sanitation system, it's bumpy and on this particular day I boarded the bus two hours late because it left w/o about half of it's travelers. They had to turn around an hour away and come back for us. That is why at this particular point in time I nominate buses as the worst possible way to travel.

Suggestions: Drive a private vehicle. If you choose this option remember that there are some police who take the speed limit seriously and will pull you over. If you get pulled over by the nice officer about 20 miles out of Miami tell him I say hi and thanks for the warning.

...sometimes I like to sing!

Welcome to the music edition of my bloggy blog. I hope you enjoy the musical commentary that is about to take place right before your eyes. Keep in mind these are my opinions and probably don't represent more musically inclined people.

In the words of Buddy the Elf, "Oh, well, it's just like talking, except longer and louder, and you move your voice up and down." I like Buddy's definition of singing. It means that technically I CAN sing. Hear that, Sam? Sam is my sister who tells me on a regular basis that I should not count on a record deal coming anytime soon or really sing ever. Thanks for crushing all my hopes and dreams, seester.

Numero uno! Way to make a come back Jenny From The Block. I want to listen to your new single on repeat and dance forever. I also hope I look like you after I have kids. This shouldn't be too difficult since I look so much like you right now.

Take a quick break to listen and dance to this gem. And GO!

Numero dos! Mumford & Sons 'The Cave' is my favorite! I'm in love. With the song, the band and Marcus Mumford's incredible voice. I don't think the other beautiful men in the band are his actual sons but really that doesn't matter.

Numero tres! A couple years old but made oh so popular from the daddy daughter duo and in my personal life, my roommate's alarm clock, 'Home' by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.

Numero four! Last but not least my guilty pleasure from the Biebster 'Never Say Never.' Tell me, what can be more inspiring than a catchy song reminding you all of your hopes and dreams can come true. Nothing, I tell you. Don't be ashamed of your Beiber fever. Young and old alike are welcomed to love this little dude.

Don't forget about the cute Smith who accompanies him in this masterpiece.

That's all for now folks. Mostly because it's almost time for me to leave work. There are obviously many more songs that keep me going during my nine hour shifts at work but this is all I can give you for now. Peace out music lovers.

...sometimes I wish...

...that I didn't have cankles.

Definition taken from urbandictionary.comn. 1) An aesthetically unfortunate physiological condition which leaves its victims with no discernable narrowing of the ankle between the calf and the foot.
2) An ankle which has no discernable narrowing from the calf to the foot. History: The word is derived a combination of the words calf and ankle. Victims of this condition are advised to avoid the following: ankle boots, ankle-strap shoes, anklets, ankle socks, ankle tattoos, high-top shoes, and any other footwear or legwear that might draw attention to the cankle region.

I am a victim of this unfortunately physical condition. Today was a surprisingly warm February day in MI. It made me think about all of the wonderful things that come along with warm weather; swimming, wearing short, running through fields of wildflowers. The usual summer activities. Then I proceeded to look into the full length mirror in my apartment and was brutally reminded of the formation of my legs.

Why couldn't I just have Heather McDonald's (no relation- that I know of) skinny little nothing ankles. She complains about how gross they look. I would kill for those skinny little things. She clearly has no idea how lucky she is or how annoying it is to hear about the opposite of what I have.

In other news I recently re-evaluated my current relationship with Rihanna. Turns out we are doing just fine. I like her new song S&M. It's catchy. I also love the little girl who sings Gaga's Born This Way. I don't even want to discuss Gaga (I'm very disappointed) at the moment but that girl is sweet and will probably be famous pretty soon and then fame will ruin her life because Gaga will be her mentor. At least Bieber's got Usher- Usher can dance. And he wears all of his clothes.

This blog post is probably getting too long and will start to bore you any time now so I will leave you with this one thought from a man I don't know and will probably never meet: "I never judge people on the way they look. I may cringe and look away, but that's more of a gut reaction than a judgment."

...time flies.

It's already the last day of January 2011. I can't believe a 12th of the new year is already gone. Everyday I try to remind myself to not live in the future so I don't miss the present. It helps me enjoy where I'm at now. This weekend Chels and I joined the Greeks (Sasha's family and Magda) on a winter adventure. Our adventure consisted of tubing and snowmobiling. Turns out I'm kind of lame because every time we raced I could not figure out how to go fast enough to win. Tough luck.

Other than those adventures the weekend consisted of driving, eating, beating up Jessica, eating, sleeping and more eating. I have an issue where if I don't get fed or watered every few hours I turn into a child and whine until I get fed. I try to avoid this around people I don't know as well but un-luckly for my fellow travelers this weekend we had to stay on a consistent feeding schedule.

My favorite meal of the weekend was probably in the "lodge" we stopped at in the middle of our snowmobiling day. We wanted a total of three orders of chicken wings. The lady told us they only had enough for two orders. So like polite snowmobiling citizens we ordered something else and wiped away our tears. A couple minutes later the same lady informs us that they have found some more chicken fingers.

Being the unfortunate people that we are, our first response was not of concern as to where these extra chicken fingers were all of a sudden found. Nope, we were just too overjoyed at the idea of a future with more fingers. Only after the excitement died down did we being to question the establishment we were now about to consume lunch in. In other food news: the place we stayed for the weekend did have some pretty great chili.

Tubing was great. World's laziest way to tube instructions: Go to tubing hill will a rope tow so you don't have to walk up the hill. You know how in all those fitness magazines their winter issues tell you all the fun ways to burn calories. Well almost every one of them includes sledding/ tubing. Fail on our part. But it's okay because the less time walking up a hill the more time you have to tube and tubing is a great winter activity for all. I will include this caution: wait until all minis (children) are well out of your way at the bottom of the hill to avoid knocking them over and looking like a huge jerk. No one cares if it was their fault. They are tiny and cute and you most likely are not.

Next weekend we are going snowboarding. Hopefully our poor sore bodies will be recovered by this time. Who knew holding down the gas with your hand could inflict so much pain on your entire arm. I am sore in places I didn't know you could be sore and I'm pretty sure what I was doing can't even be counted as a workout.

...new semester, new media.

Yesterday I went to Novi for a seminar conducted by Derek Mehraban from Ingenex Digital Marketing and Mike Lorenc from Google. This was for a New Media Driver's License course at MSU. Everyday I'm amazed about the amount social media sources available to us. Databases like reddit that allow you to search recently read article, videos and information suggested by others for you go beyond the common Google search. Even with the amount of media out there I am going to try and maintain some level of real human contact in my life. This class should be an interesting experience.

For lunch Sat Sash and I tried out Bagger Dave's in Novi and both had the Train Wreck Burger. Someday I will find a way to make a career for myself in consuming food. This burger was amazing. The fries were great too. I just developed a craving writing this post. Wonderful. According to their website they are opening a new location in Brighton!

This is a picture of the Train Wreck Burger (not the exact one I ate). If you have not eaten one of these yet I strongly recommend it.

In other news I am pretty excited about the Golden Globes which are taking place as I am writing this. Thanks to my wonderful roomies for taping it and waiting a little longer to watch it with me. This is fine because we will be able to skip the commercials and kill more job opportunities for my future.

...I don't know what this post is about.

The new year has officially begun and the first week of my last semester of my college experience is over. It has gone by way too fast. I didn't think I would need a bucket list for my last semester with how busy I was the last 3 and a half years but I was wrong. (Bucket List coming soon.) Back to the beginning (of 2011): Chelso and myself went to Chicago to visit our wonderful roomie Sasha  for New Years Eve. She left early the next morning so we got to spend new years day with Magda and her Greek family. One thing's for sure...we love our Greeks. They are wonderful people with a great taste in food. I started my internship on Monday, then got sick the next morning. The first day of my internship was great and I'm super duper excited about being there for the semester. As far as my last semester goes I pretty much have the greatest schedule in the world. OOh last weekend when I was still up at school alone I got to spend time with Liz and Mere and Evan and we PAINTED. I also painted with Michael and Sam over Christmas break. Over Christmas break I painted a city. At Liz and Mere's I painted a disturbing picture of a fish and sun and sunglasses and I think there is a tree in there somewhere. Last I painted one of the Minions from Despicable Me. He is the one who says "What?." If you don't know what I'm talking about, YouTube it. Then watch the movie because it is wonderful and pretty much the greatest movie ever (side note: I haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet). So back to my point that I am basically an artist now. Despite the fact that only one of my three creations is completely original. Oh and sorry my writing is one big paragraph but I don't think I can even separate this story. Sorry. So back to today...I am currently getting over a nasty cold so I can enjoy my last semester here at the most wonderful university every. Go Green! Ok I promise I will write in here more often...and that it will be more interesting...and that it will be more structured. Ok probably not the last one. Have a wonderful Friday all my wonderful readers.

ofps: I will post pics of my art adventures soon. Probably the wall in my room too because it is really sweet.

about Christmas time :)

Dear ladies and gents,

I have greatly missed you all greatly since my last post. I know you have been patiently awaiting to hear all my thoughts on the greatest holiday ever created. Christmas time never fails me. Since going to college it has always been the greatest time to come home and relax and see all those awesome people I've missed so much. This year my sis decided to grace us with her presence for only 10 days. Booo. Lame sauce. She clearly doesn't understand how much we love her presence. My sis, Samantha, and our friend Michael and me decided to become artists over break. Maybe I'll post you a picture or two when we're finished. Maybe, if you're lucky. I also tried my hand at the brilliant game of bowling. Oh yes bowling. I currently average about 30% of a perfect score. So basically I fail. Good thing I took Scuba and not bowling at State. Good call Jess. I'm going to visit Sasha baby with CC for New Years. I'm super duper excited. Possibly more excited for my ride down to Chi City with CC even more than the actual event of New Years. But of course, we shall see. K in the words of the great, wise, cuddly Tigger, TTFN!

Love you all my lovers!
